Based in Edmonton, Alberta, family-owned Millar Western Forest Products Ltd. has been in business for more than a century. At operations in Whitecourt, Boyle and Fox Creek, Alberta, the company produces 480 million board feet per year of high-quality, 100% kiln-dried SPF dimension lumber and specialty wood products, as well as 300,000 tonnes per year of totally chlorine-free bleached chemi-thermo-mechanical pulp (BCTMP), using fibre supplied from sustainably managed forests.

The company employs responsible forestry practices based on sustainable harvest, effective reforestation, preservation of biodiversity and other forest values, and respect for all forest users. Though subject, as a Canadian forest company, to some of the most stringent and effective environmental protection laws in the world, Millar Western provides customers and other stakeholders with additional assurance of the sustainability of its activities through certification under a number of highly regarded, independently audited environmental standards. Certifications achieved by individual Millar Western operations include the PEFC Chain of Custody standard, the CSA-Z809 sustainable forest management standard, the ISO 14001 environmental management system standard, and the “FORESTCARE” code of practice.
